(05/03/17) In Cooperation with the National Weather Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration the City of North Wildwood by official resolution supports the National Hurricane Preparedness Week.    During National Hurricane Preparedness Week residents and visitors alike are reminded that they  should take a few minutes to review their personal preparations in the event of a hurricane prior the June 1st official start of hurricane season.   As we have mentioned in the past your preparation plans should have a universal theme so that what you are doing can be used for different events that may arise.  For example when you are prepared for the electric being out you are prepared for outages caused by wires down by an Ice Storm or poles blown down by a hurricane.   The same is true when you are prepared to shelter in place and have adequate supplies on hand as the need to stay in place could be caused by street flooding, major snow storm or even a radiological incident.    Being prepared reduces stress during these often stressful events and allows you to do the storm specific tasks such  as moving your vehicles in flooding or securing your outside furniture and trash cans when high winds are predicted.   Information about preparedness can be found on this page by first clicking the bottom link on the left hand column which say OEM Brochure it will open a six page .pdf document that has all you need to know.  If you want a personal copy the OEM brochures are available at the City Clerks Office in City Hall.   Next click on the link in the box on the lower right hand side marked All Hazards Emergency Preparation Information available here “Be Prepared” and a list of links will open up in the center.  These links contain specific information about preparing for specific hazards.   All contain valuable information.    (Note to those who subscribe to the email updates of this page for some reason when save draft was pressed some people received an email containing a partial message.   We regret that error and this should reflect the complete post)
